INTEGRATED EDUCATION - A BETTER FUTURE FOR ALL
Mill Strand Integrated School & Nursery - "Promoting excellence, celebrating difference."
We want our children and future generations to grow and develop in a society that is peaceful, prosperous, accepting, inclusive, shared, rich and diverse; one that is united in common purpose and mutual respect, not broken and divided by religion and the past.
We believe that this is best achieved in Integrated Schools where children are educated together, confident to express their own identity and culture; and accepting of, and prepared to engage with, the identity and culture of others.
We achieve this through the proactive creation of an ethos and balance, giving our children and young people the safe space, structures, relationships, and experiences- all day every day, necessary to foster meaningful, positive change and maximise opportunities to create a better, more vibrant, prosperous, and harmonious future for generations to come.
As the school has grown so has its staff and the Board of Governors has actively striven to ensure that there is a ‘balance’ of staff to facilitate a broad and balanced delivery of both curricular and extra-curricular activities and learning for all pupils. As in all schools, there is a threshold on what can be accommodated, and it is impossible to be all things to all people. In striving to be an outstanding ‘integrated’ school, Mill Strand will continue to prioritise areas for development so that we can achieve more by being selective in what we do and doing it well.
The outstanding work of the school in integrated education was recognised in 2023 with the the school receiving the 'Excellence in Integrated Education Award".
